KOLKATA OLD MARTINIANS FOUNDERS DINNER DANCE 2006

Despite the heavy rains & floods as well as the change in date from the 13th being a damper we still had a turnout which was well above our expectations, though lower than the usual 400 - 500. We are sure that next year with the event again being held on 13th we will have our usual crowd having fun.

Alumni going back to Retd. Justice Jiten Choudhury of the Kolkata High Court right up to the recent years were present at the festivities.

A special word of thanks to Mr. Sunirmal Chakravarti the new Principal of the Boys School KOL who graced the occasion with Mrs. Chakravarti and was swinging to the Music practically the whole evening.

Mrs Peacock the girl's school principal who had extended all her help, encouragement and resources of the school to make the programme a success, unfortunately could not join in the festivities due to an urgent personal matter and excused herself. A big thank you to her.

After a long time the LMOB rugby team participated by opening a stall to sell T Shirts and was called to the stage to Display the trophy won by them just before the School song.

The school song was sung to the accompaniment on the piano played by Aneesha Gooptu a recent 2nd generation Alumae.

Things went off extremely smoothly due to the untiring efforts of Srimonto Kar (Tota), Jasjit Singh, Mitali Sengupta, Haimanti & Sanjeev Dhir, Arup Gooptu, Sukanya Pal and all the rest in the organizing group. Srimonto kept the "spirits" flowing and managed to put together a dinner at very short notice - a big "cheers" to all of them.

At the closing of accounts which we will be having shortly, we plan to have some boys and girls from more recent batches so that they can slowly take charge and keep things going of course with our help and support available always.....the baton must keep passing on as usual so that this glorious tradition continues.

Any alumni interested to come forward are welcome to help. We shall certainly get in touch with you. Just post in your contact details to the site giving your batch, year, House and how you propose to help.

Best regards
